There are Latina therapists out there waiting for you ❤️🩹
Welcome back, everyone! To 8 days of Latina-owned businesses!
Today, we’re talking about … Mental Health wooooooooo (the crowd goes wild, 🗣️📢🔊yhhaaaaaa!)
This listicle is near and dear to mi corazon (my heart). So, it is with great pleasure that I get to share it with you.
Therapy, you know, that thing where if you grew up in a Latino household, it didn’t exist? For the majority of Mexicans at least. No concrete research here; merely speaking from experience and my extensive social media research on mental health content and creators who address it by poking fun at it.
Just … a … few … examples … for … you … here
Yeeeesss, yes my friends this sense of humor I share with you, is just a coping mechanism turned characteristic trait 💁🏻♀️. Looks like a lot of us created the same coping habit … so, STOP CRYING Y PONTE A LIMPAIR (stop crying and clean something)!
What can feel like gaslighting is often times emotional neglect and for the most part, not intentional. It can be part of generational and/or cultural trauma. BOOM! 🎤⬇️ Did I just blow your mind?
Most of those “snowflakes” ❄️ are often just trying to learn about emotional intelligence, something that generations prior, often didn’t know anything about.
What makes me qualified to make such a bold statement? Well, a little disclosure here, I am not the professional to diagnose. I am speaking from years of extensive therapy, personal experience and studies, a degree in child development and education, and over 20 years of working with the little ones who hold the future in their hands. Focusing on, “Behavioral management” A.K.A. teaching children how to process their emotions properly.
Soooo, I have just the right list for you, Latina therapists who specialize in trauma. They probably are some of the best specialists out there for this because they have firsthand knowledge on how to help you with that weight complex you have from being called “gordis” by your family all your life 😬.
Without further ado, here are the nine private practicing Latina therapists who can help you process your traumas.

With these services from all of these professional Latinas, you might be surprised to hear that I have not had therapy from either of them😊.
What excites me about this post is one, WE HAVE THERAPY OPTIONS WHEN IT COMES TO TRAUMA AND CPTSD. CPTSD is still fairly new on the scene but very much a thing, since like forever. Problem is, the powers that be are still working on getting it into the psychological bible of diagnosis, the DSM V. But, WE HAVE OPTIONS GUYS, when it comes to Latina therapists who focus on that area. Wanna know why? I think more and more of us are coming forward. And it’s a beautiful thing.
I encourage you to fact-check me, do what you need to do, just do your research. Especially if you’re struggling. Knowledge is power. Do a little self-care. But seek advice from the professionals.
Now, I’m not hating on my culture, I think my culture is beautiful. And that’s why I’m here to tell you, you’re not alone, mija. Let’s work through this together ❤️🩹
Most of these therapists:
1. Offer remote services
2. Are accepting new clients or can give you a solid referral
3. Are Private Pay
Give it a try … Challenge yourself today. What’s the worst that can happen?
I went from angsty teen (and adult) listening to:
to:
This music nod goes out to my new Medium music buddy, Robin Sherman. Check him out because, there’s a song for that …
If you’d like a copy of the DSM V, click on the link and it’ll take you to the book on Amazon. I’ll get a lil’ kickback (including the book suggested in the next paragraph) at no extra cost to you.
Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents: How to Heal from Distant, Rejecting, or Self-Involved Parents, is the first book I read to start my healing. Confession, after several more books and extensive shadow work, I still haven’t finished the book. The content is so informational and really helps you to understand. So much so that it hits too close to home … and I’m afraid. I’m hesitant to finish it. It’s that powerful. That’s one of my many, many battles I struggle with, but here…we…are ❤️🩹.
Thank you for letting me share this info with you all!
