teacher appreciation week

May 6th — 10th is Teacher Appreciation Week

Every morning you trust your kids with caregivers and teachers as you drop them off on your way to work. These educators spend the majority of the day caring for and teaching the lights of your life.

In my 25+ years working in the education field, I’ve received, put together, and seen just about every gift a teacher could be given.

From expensive, to creative, to quick purchases, here are 18 of my favorite gift ideas for that special teacher in your child’s life.

A few of these ideas have links to these great gifts. Convenient for you and much-appreciated kickbacks for me 🙏🏼.

  1. A bouquet
💐Picked from your garden and put in a clever jar
    💐Purchased from the store
    💐From a delivery service
💐Help your child to pick a flower to give to their teacher
    💐A pop-up bouquet card
  2. Let them know you’ll pick up their favorite coffee or drink for them the following morning so they can tell you their order ☕.
  3. A thoughtful gift. If you know your child’s teacher well, you’re familiar with their favorite things or things they collect.
💟 If you don’t know, ask around, take notice these next few days, or peruse their social media.
  4. A bottle of alcohol
🍾 If you’re crafty, print out a personalized label to wrap around the
     bottle.
🍾 I’ve seen funny notes from parents referencing their “challenging” child, therefore gifting the bottle of alcohol for the end of the day.
  5. A designer handbag or cardholder
👜This happens more often than you think.
  6. Popular sweets from a coveted bakery
🍪 Some places even have themed “teacher appreciation” pastries
     available.
  7. A personalized item
💟Pens are popular! You can never have too many.
  8. Treat them to dinner or ice cream
🍝If you’re particularly close to them, a special evening outing with
your child and their teacher make lasting memories.
  9. Surprise them with the “must🥤have” item plaguing social media.
  10. A thoughtful card letting them know how much they mean to you and your child 💌.
  11. Gift them a month of a subscription service.
📆 This can be something new you can introduce to them.
    📆 A streaming service
    📆 Book of the month
    📆 A self-care box
  12. Frame a picture made by your child for their teacher.
💟 Make sure your child writes their name on it 😉
  13. A gift certificate to a spa 🧖🏻‍♀️or for a manicure or pedicure 💅🏼
  14. School supplies
    ✏️Post-its
    ✏️Craft supplies
  15. A small plant
    🪴Real or fake
  16. Put a basket together
🧺Add their favorite things to fill it
🧺Put a combination of items listed above
🧺Here are five of my favorite premade sets from Amazon:
     One … Two … Three … Four … Five
  17. A good ol’ gift card
💟Preferably to a place they like
    💟Gas
    💟Restaurant
💟A note on gift cards … There’s a new scam on the rise with 3rd party purchased gift cards. Read more about this here.
  18. If you’re feeling froggy 🐸, you can even pick 5 things to give, one on each day of Teacher Appreciation Week.

Remember, it’s the thought that counts❣️
